which, is a member of the

Photographic Alliance of Great Britain(PAGB)

which, is a member of the

Federation Internationale de I'Art Photographique(FIAP).

L&CPU

The L&CPU is one of fifteen member groups of the PAGB.

It organises local events, competitions and folios etc., as well as partaking in the PAGB functions.

PAGB

The PAGB promotes and co-ordinates the interests of all member federations with their

member clubs and societies in all matters of common interest and to co-ordinate with

national and international photographic bodies. This includes such things as a PAGB Handbook,

provision of Judges & Lecturers, Recorded Lecture service, Leaflets, Newsletter, Patronage,

Exhibitions & Competitions, Awards and Insurance.

The Awards for Photographic Merit are open to all members and include:-

Credit (CPAGB), Distinction (DPAGB) and Master (MPAGB).

The PAGB also continues to maintain close links with the Royal Photographic Society.

FIAP

The FIAP promotes co-operation between national photographic associations around the world.

L&CPU - Some activities and resources.

1.Annual Print and Projected Image Competitions.

This is the main L&CPU activity as far as Morecambe Photographic Society members are concerned,

for which there are both Club and Individual Club member awards. Submissions are required

by the end of April each year and are co-ordinated through the clubs L&CPU Liason Officer.

The maximum number of entries for each category is confirmed every year but it is most likely to be 2 or 3.

A brief summary of the Competitions is given below. Comprehensive details can be found in the

competitions section on the L&CPU wbesite.

Mounted Prints.  The print categories are:- 'General - Monochrome', 'General - Colour', and 'Nature'.

Whilst smaller 'prints' may be submitted, the preferred size is around A3 or A3+.

The Maximum 'mount size' is 50cm x 40cm.

Projected images. (ie Digital Images. The future inclusion of slides is still under review).

The PI categories are:- 'General' and 'Nature'.

Digital Image Sizes:- The final image (jpeg, sRGB colour) size must be

1400 pixels wide x 1050 pixels high.

Any unused area for smaller images should be filled with black or grey.

Entry in these competitions is a pre-requisite for applying for PAGB distinctions.

2. L&CPU Folios.

Appropriate Prints and Projected Images are retained by the L&CPU to make up the varios folios

of about 50 images. These are circulated to member clubs that want them, for integration into their programmes.

For convenience there is also a low resolution digital image version of the Folio images circulated on CD.

3. L&CPU Directory.

The Directory, which is published annually, consists mainly of listings of:- Member Clubs, with their meeting venue

and Secretary's details. L&CPU Lecturers and details of the lectures. Approved competition judges.

4. Other annually run L&CPU Competitions.

Inter club Print challenge and an Inter-club PDI challenge - Audio-visual competition,

 

PAGB - Some Activities and Resources.

1. PAGB Inter-federation Competitions.

Some of the best Prints  and Digital Images are selected from the L&CPU Annual Competitions to go forward

to these Annual Competitions. There is also a National biennial Audio-Visual competition.

2. PAGB Directory.

The directory, which is published biennially, provides details of:-

Services provided by the Alliance.

Governing bodies of all member Federations / Societies.

Lists of Lecturers and Judges.

Recorded Lecturers etc.

3. Awards for Photographic Merit.

Individual Awards for Photographic Merit. Credit -(CPAGB), Distinction - (DPAGB) and Master - (MPAGB).

These can be obtained where the work submitted for adjudication is judged to be equivalent to

'Good club photography', 'Open exhibition standard' and 'International exhibition standard' respectively.

Pre-qualification includes past support of the L&CPU Annual Competitions

(ie involvement for at least 2,3 and 5 years respectively over the last ten years).

Adjudication usually takes place twice per year in April and November,

the closing dates for the limited application places being 28th February and 30th September.

These should be checked out on the PAGB website. The adjudication panel consists of three

judges who assign between 2 and 6 points for each print/image.

 The number of submissions (not mixed types) and the pass marks are as follows.

CPAGB: 10 images - 200 points out of possible 360.  DPAGB: 15 images - 300 points, possible 540.

and MPAGB: 20 images - 450 points, possible 720 points. There is an entry fee for submissions.
